The Zone
You just seem to do no wrong. It’s not as if you are winning a lot of money, but every decision you are making is 100% bang on. You are folding at the right time, your bluffs are getting through like a knife through butter and your raises are being called by worse with an alarming accuracy, and all this after you’ve signed up with your top poker bonus. When this happens to you it is known as being ‘In the Zone.’
There are players in the game who believe being in the zone is related to randomness. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t. There are others who believe it depends on mood, quality of players or the result of a good run of cards. But ‘The Zone’ is none of these things. ‘The Zone’ is a place you can learn to reach with increasing accuracy. It is a learned skill.
One of the biggest misconceptions that poker players suffer from is when they relate running good with being in the zone. If the deck keeps hitting you harder than a Mohammed Ali uppercut, this doesn’t mean you are in the zone. You could be losing more money than a Cypriot banker, but you could still be in ‘The Zone.’
In order to find “The Zone’ you need to have the right mix of energy. Mental and physical reserves of energy must be balanced to perfection if you are to find ‘The Zone’ each time you play. If you are tired and lethargic then it will affect your game in a negative way. But you can also have a poor game if you have too much energy. Think about the times you make decisions far too quickly, or try to force your aggression. These are all examples of playing with too much energy.
“The Zone’ is waiting for you. You just need to learn how to find it.
